Millstones & Staddle Stones

Millstones were originally used to grind wheat and other grains. Our millstones are often used as entrance or exterior ornaments, or made into a water feature to add unique character and focal points to homes and gardens.

Staddle stones were used at the corners of grain stores (or ‘cots’) to raise the floor of the building off the ground. Their mushroom shape meant that rats and mice were unable to scale them and reach the grain. Nowadays they made great substitute bollards or even rustic bird tables!
