Victorian Smooth Blue Pavers Reclaimed B Grade
Reclaimed Victorian smooth blue pavers provide a refined and durable alternative to more common textured paving options. These Grade B pavers have a wider range of wear than our usual Grade A reclaimed stock, with some colour variation and surface chips. However, they still offer the same structural integrity and are well suited to use in established landscaping designs.
Dimensions- L9½” x W5″ x D2″ (L24.2cm x W12.7cm x D5.1cm)
Please note, due to the nature of production, the age of the items and process of reclamation, there are likely to be imperfections and wear marks.

Reclaimed Victorian smooth blue pavers provide a refined and durable alternative to more common textured paving options. They offer impressive strength, excellent frost resistance and a distinctive smooth blue surface. As a result, they suit both traditional garden layouts and more contemporary landscape designs. Reclaimed Victorian smooth blue pavers originate from Staffordshire, an area central to Britain’s industrial paving history.
During the eighteenth century, manufacturers discovered the potential of dense Etruria Marl clay. When fired at extremely high temperatures, this clay produced exceptionally hard, weather-resistant bricks. Consequently, councils and engineers widely used them for streets, yards and industrial spaces. The recognisable blue colour developed through vitrification during firing, not applied pigments. This process created a smooth, almost glass-like surface that resisted water penetration.
The manufacturing process involved shaping clay bricks before firing them above eleven hundred degrees Celsius. Reduced oxygen levels within the kiln caused the clay body to vitrify fully. Therefore, the finished pavers became non-porous and highly resistant to frost damage. This same method gives reclaimed Victorian smooth blue pavers their consistent colour and density.
Choosing reclaimed materials brings clear environmental and practical advantages. Reusing existing bricks reduces demand for newly manufactured products and conserves raw materials. It also limits waste sent to landfill, supporting more responsible construction practices. Additionally, reclaimed Victorian smooth blue pavers display a natural patina formed through decades of use. This surface variation adds visual depth without compromising structural integrity. Importantly, these pavers have already proven their longevity in demanding conditions.
Their generous nine and a half by five inch format suits patios, paths and driveways. Each paver weighs around three kilograms, providing stability once correctly laid. The smooth face creates a neat appearance while remaining appropriate for period properties. Beyond paving, reclaimed Victorian blue pavers also perform well as edging or detailing. They define borders cleanly while maintaining continuity across outdoor spaces.
Whether used for entrances, walkways or garden features, Victorian smooth blue pavers deliver lasting performance and heritage value. For an alternative look, explore Victorian blue stable pavers.
