Staffordshire Blue square edge Saddleback wall copings provide a practical and characterful finish for single skin garden and boundary walls. Used since Roman times, wall copings protect masonry from harsh weather. The Romans introduced the drip channel, which directs rain away from wall faces and helps prevent water ingress and frost damage.
Formed from Etruria Marl, these copings are a dense and durable walling cover. Fired at extremely high temperatures, the clay vitrifies and develops a rich deep blue colour. This process creates a strong, water-resistant coping stone that can endure constant exposure to rain, frost, and wind.
The design of these Blue wall copings is square edge saddleback. This profile combines flat sides with a gentle slope towards the apex, ensuring rainwater is shed quickly. Staffordshire Blue Square Edge wall copings also feature drip channels on the underside. These narrow grooves stop water from running back onto the wall face, protecting the brickwork beneath.
