These reclaimed Cambridge calf nose bricks offer exceptional character, having spent almost a century exposed to the British weather. We sourced this small batch of vintage perforated bricks locally, the style and colour being popular from the East Midlands to the South East of the UK.
Crafted from iconic pale Gault clay, these calf nose bricks embody regional history. Indeed, Gault clay bricks define traditional architecture throughout Cambridgeshire and the South East. Each brick exhibits signs of its previous life. Consequently, you will find surface discolouration, chips, and authentic marks. Areas of natural lichen also texture the weathered faces. Furthermore, old mortar remnants cling to many of the internal perforations. The unique rounded corner gives these calf nose bricks their name.
The distinctive curves of these calf nose bricks provide decorative solutions for various projects. Traditionally, they create softened corners on walls and piers (pillars). Additionally, they improve safety in high-traffic areas by removing sharp edges. However, they are also versatile for modern landscaping. Try using them for unique step risers or garden path edgings. The vertical perforations through the bricks offer specific advantages. Firstly, they make the brick lighter and easier to handle. Secondly, mortar keys securely into the holes, creating a very strong bond. This feature enhances overall structural integrity in finished walls.
We sell these reclaimed Cambridge calf nose bricks individually. Stock levels are limited for this exclusive batch.
