Description

Cotswold Dry Stone Walling Stone-Limestone Grade B

Cotswold limestone dry stone walling stone brings the soft, honeyed tones of the Cotswolds to any walling project, large or small. Dry stone walling has been a feature of the British landscape for centuries. Builders traditionally placed stones without mortar, relying on careful selection and placement for strength and stability.

This technique dates back thousands of years and still defines many rural areas across the UK. In the Cotswolds, dry stone walls are a familiar and historic sight. Their enduring beauty and structure come largely from the local stone used—Cotswold limestone.

Prized for its colour, Cotswold limestone dry stone walling stone is workable with a traditional colour and character. It cuts cleanly, holds its shape, and weathers well outdoors. In addition, our stone is cropped on site by guillotine, creating rough but workable pieces perfect for dry stone walling.

Grade B

This is not reclaimed or recut Cotswold limestone. It’s fresh from the quarry, shaped and ready for use. Sold in bulk bags of around 800kg, each bag of Cotswold dry stone walling covers approximately 3 to 4 square metres. Additionally, this stone is Grade B, offering the same quality material as Grade A, but with a more irregular shape.

The less uniform appearance of Grade B suits projects needing a rustic, traditional feel. It may take longer to build with, but the result looks authentic and grounded. As a result, builders need to spend time selecting and placing the right stones along the course.

Cotswold limestone dry stone walling stone works for a variety of uses. Indeed, from small garden walls and raised beds to long boundary walls, it suits all scales. Furthermore, its warm tones fit well into countryside settings and can soften modern spaces too.

By choosing Cotswold limestone walling stone, you’re working with a material trusted for generations. It offers both strength and an organic look. Whether building by hand or working with a professional, this stone helps create walls that belong in the landscape. Recreate the Cotswold feel with this limestone walling—simple, honest and full of character.
