Description

Reclaimed Blue Lias Flagstones (Random Sizes)

This exclusive batch of reclaimed blue lias flagstones offers an authentic, structurally robust solution for your next traditional landscaping project. Blue lias is a famously durable, fine-grained Jurassic limestone that workers traditionally quarry from specific geographic regions in Britain. Most historical deposits originate from Somerset, particularly around the Langport and Somerton areas, as well as the coastal cliffs of Dorset. Watling Reclamation now presents this rare, small batch of salvaged paving at our main yard located on Watling Street, south of Towcester.

Our current stock features individual slabs of varying surface sizes, but all pieces maintain a substantial thickness of approximately 10 centimetres. This considerable depth strongly dictates exterior installation because the deep bed depth exceeds the requirements of standard interior flooring. Consequently, these reclaimed blue lias flagstones provide the perfect material for high-traffic outdoor zones. Homeowners and contractors can confidently lay these heavy-duty slabs across patios, garden paths, and residential driveways. The dense limestone composition ensures exceptional long-term durability, easily resisting heavy structural loads and harsh environmental conditions.

As genuine salvaged paving, these reclaimed blue lias flagstones display beautiful signs of historical age and prior operational use. Buyers will notice authentic characteristics like weathered edges, minor surface chips, and original lime mortar remnants. You can easily remove the residual bedding mortar using a standard brick hammer during the installation preparation process. Far from reducing the aesthetic value of the stone, this historic patina significantly enhances the final visual impact of the material.

What Are the Benefits Of Reclaimed Flagstones?

Choosing reclaimed blue lias flagstones provides significant environmental and aesthetic advantages over using newly quarried alternatives. This batch of reclaimed blue lias flagstones represents a highly sustainable construction choice, preserving natural resources by recirculating premium embodied carbon materials. Furthermore, the natural blue-grey tones complement historic properties and regional British architecture perfectly. Therefore, these salvaged stones bring an established, matured character to any property development, ensuring your hardscaping project blends into the surrounding environment.

Use with a complimentary material, such as reclaimed granite cobbles, to create a heritage focused edging.
