Description

Reclaimed Minton Border Tiles- Batch of 3.8sqm

Reclaimed Minton border tiles offer character, heritage, and practical value for period and contemporary interiors. These pieces originate from the renowned Minton factory, founded in the 19th century by Herbert Minton in Stoke-on-Trent. Minton tiles became widely used in Victorian Britain, especially in hallways, churches, and public buildings. They are encaustic tiles, which means patterns are formed with inlaid coloured clay rather than surface printing. As a result, the designs remain visible even after decades of wear.

This batch of reclaimed Minton border tiles includes a varied selection of small shaped pieces. You will find squares, triangles, finger pieces, and offcuts created during original installation. In addition, both black and white versions of triangles and squares appear throughout the mix. These reclaimed Minton border tiles show authentic signs of age, including remnants of green paint and mortar. Moreover, small chips, worn edges, and light surface wear reflect their previous use.

Small Batch

Covering almost four square metres, this batch suits creative applications in smaller spaces. For example, you could form an eye-catching porch floor with an intricate layout. Alternatively, you might install these vintage reclaimed Minton tiles as a linear edging along a hallway of blue quarry tiles. This approach adds definition without overwhelming the main flooring.

These Minton border tiles remain popular because they combine durability with historic appeal. Their dense clay composition resists heavy foot traffic, making them ideal for busy areas. Furthermore, their aged surfaces bring depth that new tiles often lack. Because each piece carries subtle variation, the finished design feels unique and considered.

Choosing these reclaimed border tiles also supports sustainable building practices. By reusing existing materials, you reduce demand for new production and minimise waste. At the same time, you preserve architectural heritage by giving these tiles a new purpose. Consequently, reclaimed Minton border tiles provide both environmental and aesthetic benefits.
