The UK throws away 70,151,260 tons of building materials every year. Undoubtedly due to recycling building materials consuming energy and most recycled materials have limited use. Moreover, much of this waste is incinerated or goes to landfill. Consequently, only 1% of all building materials are reused today despite the environmental benefits far outweighing those for recycling and throwing them away.
