Double bullnose blue bricks offer strong performance and striking colour for a wide range of landscaping and construction tasks. Staffordshire Blue bricks appeared during the Industrial Revolution, when local clay deposits produced an exceptionally dense and hard engineering brick. Makers fired the clay at very high temperatures, which transformed the surface into a rich blue glaze. This process created bricks with excellent strength, low water absorption and long service life, making them popular across factories, bridges and civic buildings.
Because these modern double bullnose blue bricks follow the same principles, they remain highly sought after. They resist frost, moisture and wear, while also providing a distinctive visual effect. Moreover, double bullnose shaping gives both long edges a smooth, curved profile. This form works particularly well on brick walls. Acting as copings they allow water to run off cleanly and not collect on flat surfaces. It also protects the wall’s core by directing rain away. Additionally, the rounded edges reduce snagging, which proves useful on low retaining walls where people may sit.
These new concession double bullnose bricks measure 215mm by 100mm by 65mm, making them suitable for modern projects but not for Imperial layouts. As concessions, they show minor cracks, small glaze imperfections and colour variation within a batch. However, they remain fully structural and perform as expected when installed correctly. Their subtle inconsistencies give visual depth, particularly when used alongside red brick details or within gardens.
You can use double bullnose blue bricks for neat edging around paths, borders or planters, because their profile offers a clean and comfortable boundary. They also support heavy pots or raised beds with confidence, thanks to their durability. Furthermore, the curved edges of double bullnose blue bricks make them ideal for coping on garden walls where water control matters. Their robust body and weather resistance ensure long lasting results.
Choosing concession quality brings notable benefits. You gain the performance of premium engineering bricks at a lower cost. You also reduce waste by using pieces that remain structurally sound despite cosmetic variation. As a result, double bullnose blue bricks offer reliable function, striking appearance and responsible use of materials, while still supporting a wide range of practical applications.
