Description

Blue Tall Sill Brick 65mm x 210mm x 145mm (New Concessions)

Staffordshire has produced distinctive blue engineering bricks since the C19th, and these tall sill bricks continue that tradition. Manufacturers in the Staffordshire perfected high temperature firing using local Etruria Marl clay. As a result, Staffordshire Blue bricks became known for strength, density, and their deep blue tone. Builders quickly trusted them for railways, bridges, and robust civic buildings.

Today, our blue tall sill bricks continue that proud tradition. Shaped from carefully selected clay and fired at extremely high temperatures creating the signature blue colour. This intense firing vitrifies the clay and reduces water absorption. Consequently, the finished bricks achieve impressive strength and frost resistance.

Each of our blue tall sill bricks measures 21cm high, 6.5cm wide, and 14.5cm deep. This tall profile creates a bold vertical emphasis beneath windows. In addition, the generous depth provides solid bearing and visual weight. The unusual proportions make these bricks stand out on both classic and contemporary façades.

Sill bricks serve an essential structural and practical purpose. They support the base of window frames and help distribute loads evenly. Moreover, they project slightly to throw rainwater clear of the wall. This design detail reduces staining and protects brickwork below. Therefore, well chosen sill bricks improve both performance and appearance.

Adaptable Features

The rich blue colour of these blue tall sill bricks pairs beautifully with traditional masonry. At the same time, it offers crisp contrast against lighter modern renders. Because of their new finish and heritage tone, they blend easily with period homes. Equally, they introduce clean definition to modern builds.

These bricks are classed as Concession bricks. They remain structurally sound and fully suitable for building use. However, you may notice small folds, hairline cracks, or glaze imperfections. There can also be slight colour variation across batches. Many clients appreciate these subtle marks as signs of authentic production.

If you want durability, heritage character, and distinctive proportions, these tall sill bricks provide a practical and striking solution. They combine proven manufacturing methods with bold design impact for lasting results.
