Reclaimed billiard table slates bring history, weight and raw character to any creative project. Each slate measures 180cm long, 50cm wide and 4cm thick. Weighing around 100kg, these are solid slabs of dense, high-quality stone. Originally used as the playing surface for billiard tables, they now show the marks of age. Indeed, exposure to the elements has weathered them heavily, with flaked surfaces, split edges and soft discolouration across each face.
Slate has long been used in billiard, snooker and pool tables for its durability and flatness. It resists warping, holds its shape and offers a level surface. As a result, the tradition began in the early 1800s, when slate replaced wood as the preferred base material. Its strength and stability made it ideal for competitive play, and it remains the gold standard today.
