These reclaimed Granite kerbs provide robust edging for paths and driveways with genuine historical character. Granite is an igneous stone formed under intense heat and pressure deep within the earth’s crust. As a result, it offers exceptional strength, density and resistance to abrasion. Therefore, builders have long chosen granite for kerbs and paving in demanding environments. It withstands heavy loads, frequent traffic and harsh weather without structural failure. Additionally, granite resists frost damage and moisture due to its low porosity.
These stones are reclaimed, having signs of age and previous use, with discolouration, mortar remnants and chips marking each stone. However, this weathering adds authentic heritage aesthetic, rather than detracting from performance. As a result, reclaimed Granite kerbs blend easily into established paving schemes where their patina feels settled and natural. They can also anchor new projects, providing instant maturity and visual consistency. Importantly, these kerbs come from the same location, so weathering remains consistent throughout the batch.
Each unit measures approximately six inches wide and five inches deep, with varying lengths. Consequently, this enhances their traditional appearance when laid. They weigh over fifty kilograms per metre, so correct handling and installation are essential. Furthermore, proper bedding ensures long-term stability and prevents future movement under load. These reclaimed Granite kerbs suit driveways, pathways and edging where durability and authenticity truly matters.
Beyond kerbing, these stones adapt well to other creative uses. For example, landscapers use them as steps, patio borders or retaining details and, used imaginatively, they also become distinctive garden features. Used as kerbs with Victorian blue diamond pavers, creates a truly eye-catching and authentic period driveway.
Reclaimed Granite kerbs offer sustainability benefits by reducing demand for newly quarried stone. Moreover, reclamation conserves natural resources and lowers embodied carbon, while also preserving materials with proven longevity and performance. Consequently, reclaimed Granite kerbs deliver practical strength, environmental responsibility and authentic heritage value in equal measure.
