Reclaimed red Norfolk Pamments bring warmth, depth and character to any interior floor. These handmade clay tiles date back centuries. Traditionally made in Norfolk using local clay, pamments were shaped, dried and fired without uniformity. As a result, that gave each tile a slightly different look. Over time, these tiles earned their worn beauty from decades of use in cottages, barns and farmhouses.
Each of these reclaimed red Norfolk Pamments measures approximately 9 inches square and between 1½ to 2 inches deep. The slight variation in depth comes from natural wear over the years. Their surfaces carry honest signs of age—corner chips, staining, and surface discolouration. Additionally, you’ll find shades ranging from rich terracotta red to paler grey and white. These colour changes reflect how each tile was placed and walked upon during its former life. Moreover, that visible history makes them ideal for creating a floor with authenticity and a strong sense of place.
Despite years of use, these red Norfolk pamments remain incredibly durable. Indeed, the dense clay and traditional firing methods ensure they still have decades of life left. You can choose to clean and seal them for a brighter, crisper terracotta finish. Alternatively, lay them as found for a soft, rustic appearance that tells a story. Either approach offers something visually rich and historically grounded.
Using reclaimed red Norfolk Pamments supports sustainable building practices. Indeed, you’re preventing waste and reducing the demand for newly manufactured flooring. Reclaimed materials like these reduce the carbon footprint of any interior renovation. In return, you get a floor full of character that new tiles can’t replicate. Furthermore, because these tiles have already proven their resilience, you can trust their quality.
The unique patina of reclaimed red Norfolk Pamments connects a room to the past. In addition, they bring texture, variation and substance to hallways, kitchens, or garden rooms. Every tile is slightly different, yet together they form a surface full of depth and history. Reclaimed red Norfolk Pamments give your interior a quiet strength that speaks of age, use and enduring value.
Alternatively, small quarry tiles are here.
