Description

Red Octagonal Quarry Tiles (Handmade)- Blue 2″ Inserts sold separately

Red Octagonal Quarry Tiles bring history and durability to both period homes and rustic modern spaces. Made from dense red clay, these tiles were originally fired at high temperatures to produce a tough, low-porosity surface. Builders began using quarry tiles in the 19th century, especially in utility spaces, hallways and porches. Their hard-wearing nature made them a popular choice across Britain’s homes and public buildings.

Red clay proves ideal for quarry tile production. It offers natural strength, deep colour and resistance to wear. These Red Octagonal Quarry Tiles pair perfectly with black or blue diamond-shaped cabouchon inserts, sold separately. Place a cabouchon at each corner to create the traditional geometric pattern. For custom fits, cut cabouchon from suitable donor tiles using standard tools.

These tiles are reclaimed, which means each one shows signs of its previous life. Expect some discolouration, slight surface marks and traces of old lino adhesive. Some tiles may still carry remnants of the lino itself. A brush and blade make quick work of cleaning them. However, these small imperfections add character and reflect years of use.

Use Red Octagonal Quarry Tiles to add depth and texture to hallways, kitchens or garden rooms. They suit Victorian properties and blend seamlessly with reclaimed or rustic interior styles. Furthermore, their red tones bring warmth and contrast to natural finishes such as wood, plaster or cast iron. They also perform well in high-traffic areas due to their strength and density.

Eco-conscious Choice

Choosing reclaimed flooring has environmental benefits. It avoids energy-heavy manufacturing and helps reduce landfill waste. By reusing Red Octagonal Quarry Tiles, you reduce demand for new clay extraction and firing. Additionally, you bring unique materials into your home with visible signs of their past.

Each Red Octagonal Quarry Tile carries a story of past craftsmanship. When combined with cabouchon, they create a classic pattern with enduring appeal. Reclaiming these materials supports sustainable design while adding something truly individual to your space. With these Octagonal Quarry Tiles, you get practical flooring rooted in history and shaped by time.
