Blue Square Edge Saddleback Wall Coping Reclaimed 14″ W

Protect your walling with these square edge saddleback wall copings. Reclaimed Staffordshire Blue clay provides unmatched strength and historic charm. Furthermore, this batch offers a rare complete run for your project.

What is the Purpose of Wall Copings?

Wall copings protect masonry from water damage by shedding rainwater away from the brickwork. Additionally, historically, builders used stone or clay copings to prevent frost damage to parapets. Furthermore, copings add an attractive finished edge to modern and traditional walls alike.

What is Staffordshire Blue Clay?

Staffordshire Blue refers to clay fired at extreme temperatures in a low-oxygen kiln. However, it’s this process that turns the clay a distinct blue-black shade with incredible density. Consequently, Staffordshire Blue clay resists water absorption, frost, and harsh British weather brilliantly.

Features & Benefits

  • Complete 19m Run: Secure a rare, matching batch from a single Victorian site. Consequently, the weathering is consistent.

  • Superior Durability: High-fired clay withstands extreme weather without cracking or deteriorating. As a result, these copings offer years of continued service.

  • Historic Authenticity: Salvaged from mid-to-late 1800s terraced houses in Northampton. Furthermore, their condition allows ease of use in new projects.

  • Instant Character: Aged patina with light lichen blends seamlessly with mature masonry. Additionally, it fits well with new walls of reclaimed bricks.

Product Description-Square Edge Wall Copings

Upgrade your masonry project using these reclaimed square edge saddleback wall copings. Recovered from Victorian terraced houses in Northampton, these square edge saddleback wall copings have weathered British winters since the 1800s. As a result, their exceptional condition proves the legendary toughness of Staffordshire Blue clay.

This full 19m batch of square edge saddleback wall copings weighs over 1000kg in total. Naturally, the surfaces feature light moss, spots of lichen, mild discolouration and remnants of mortar. However, you can easily chip away any remaining mortar using a standard brick hammer. Undoubtedly, installing these square edge saddleback wall copings creates a striking heritage finish on parapets, garden walls, or sympathetic extensions.

Site Tip: These 14-inch wide copings feature a central 3 ½ inch apex and 1 1/2″ upstand that channels heavy rainfall away from your brickwork. Additionally, a drip channel further reduces the risk of water ingress to the main core of the wall.

The Benefits of Reclaimed Building Materials

Choosing salvaged building supplies brings unique functional and environmental advantages to your build. Firstly, reclaimed materials prevent carbon-heavy manufacturing processes for new clay products. Secondly, vintage materials match historic brickwork far better than modern factory reproductions. Therefore, using these square edge saddleback wall copings guarantees authentic character alongside proven weatherproof protection.
