Weathered Haddonstone Balustrade Balusters

These reclaimed, weathered Haddonstone balustrade balusters offer a striking way to bring historic character into your outdoor space. Haddonstone is one of the UK’s leading cast stone manufacturers, known for high-quality architectural stonework. Based in Northamptonshire, the company has supplied fine cast stone to heritage sites, stately homes and gardens since 1971. These balusters, reclaimed from an older installation, show clear signs of their age and exposure to the elements.

Each piece is crafted in cast stone and carries the patina of time. The end balusters stand 50cm tall, while the run balusters are 45cm tall. All measure 16cm square at the top and base. As reclaimed items, the weathered Haddonstone balustrade balusters display small chips, traces of old mortar and patches of lichen. Some have sustained heavier damage during recovery, but remain repairable with care.

The natural ageing adds real depth and texture, ideal for gardens that favour an authentic, timeworn appearance. Because this collection includes only the balusters, with no base or rail, they offer great flexibility. Use them individually as garden plinths, bedded directly into soil to support pots or sculptures. Or, rebuild them as a run with railway sleepers to form a rustic border in a wild garden.

Alternative Settings

The weathered Haddonstone balustrade balusters work beautifully in settings that welcome overgrown planting and layered textures. Their surface tells a story, adding instant maturity to newer landscapes. Using reclaimed materials like these reduces waste, lowers demand for new production and keeps valuable resources in use. It also allows designers to incorporate rare or discontinued pieces.

You can easily clean off the mortar with a brick hammer before installation. However, many people choose to leave the lichen and imperfections in place, highlighting the piece’s history. The weathered Haddonstone balustrade balusters are ideal for those who value sustainability, heritage and practical creativity in garden design. Undoubtedly, their enduring style and robust form make them a rewarding addition to any landscape.
