Gritstone / Yorkstone Cobbles (Reclaimed)

These reclaimed, large, gritstone and/or York stone cobbles come in a random blend of sandy buff to grey. Larger than most cobbles, they range from 6-8″ wide by 3-5″ deep and are variable in length. Approximately 4 sqm per bag when laid.
Large and distinctive, these cobbles are ideal for driveways, courtyards, entrance aprons or anywhere where traffic might damage softer surfaces. On steep slopes, they provide added grip for vehicles.
Yorkstone and its Pennine cousin gritstone are both hard sandstones and have been prized for paving surfaces for hundreds of years. These reclaimed cobbles have well-weathered and rounded tops that have been worn smooth by centuries of wear from iron-shod horses, iron cartwheels and hobnail boots.
NB The colours are random and may change from bag to bag. We recommend the traditional method of mixing from different bags as the cobbles are laid. (Apologies, but we cannot cherry-pick orders for colour matching on cobbles or setts.)

Gritstone / Yorkstone Cobbles (Reclaimed)
These reclaimed, large, Gritstone / Yorkstone cobbles come in a random blend of sandy buff to grey. Originally larger than most cobbles, they’re ‘cropped’ to create more manageable stones. The new face is worked with hammer and grinder producing a pre-worn look. This will age and weather rapidly, matching the older face within a year. Size range from 6-8″ wide by 3-5″ deep and are variable in length.
Large and distinctive, these cobbles are ideal for driveways, courtyards, entrance aprons or anywhere where traffic might damage softer surfaces. Additionally, on steep slopes, they provide added grip for vehicles.
Yorkstone, and its Pennine cousin Gritstone, are both hard sandstones. Moreover, these stones have been prized for paving surfaces for thousands of years. These bags of reclaimed cobbles mix well-weathered and worked tops. Old tops worn smooth by centuries of wear from iron-shod horses, and new worked tops create the same finish. These new worked tops age rapidly, building the same patina of the old tops. In addition, these Gritstone / Yorkstone cobbles will stand the test of Time, heavy traffic, iron cartwheels and hobnail boots!
