This reclaimed Yorkstone shallow sink is a striking piece of British heritage, hand carved from solid natural stone. Designed with one rounded corner, it fits neatly into a corner space, making it practical as well as visually distinct. Measuring 46 ½ inches long, 20 inches wide and 6 ¼ inches deep, this is a broad, low-profile sink with a shallow basin.
Yorkstone is a dense, fine-grained sandstone quarried in Yorkshire. Known for its durability, it withstands heavy use and exposure to the elements. As a result, Yorkstone remains a favourite for outdoor and utility sinks and garden troughs. Its resistance to weather and water makes it perfect for sinks, troughs and garden features. Furthermore, over time, Yorkstone develops surface character that speaks to its age and quality.
With some refurbishment, this reclaimed Yorkstone shallow sink could return to domestic use in a boot room or utility space. However, it also excels outdoors. In a greenhouse, it provides a flat, usable basin for potting or rinsing tools. Alternatively, in the garden, it makes a practical station for soaking plants or washing produce. In addition, some buyers use sinks like this as the centrepiece of a bespoke water feature.
This particular reclaimed Yorkstone shallow sink shows signs of past use, including mortar remains and environmental discolouration. There are minor chips, wear marks and a crack across one corner. Watertightness has not been tested. These signs of wear do not weaken its appeal—they reinforce its authenticity and long life.
Reclaimed pieces like this reclaimed Yorkstone shallow sink offer both sustainability and character. Choosing reclaimed means reducing the demand for new resources while preserving quality craftsmanship. Every mark on this Yorkstone sink tells part of its history, giving it presence in any setting. For gardeners, restorers or anyone seeking depth and texture, this reclaimed shallow sink delivers style rooted in practicality.
