Red Plinth Stretcher 3″ Brick Reclaimed

Brick measurement: 9¼” L x 4¾” W x 3″ H with 2″ upstand

These large plinth stretcher bricks are a weathered soft red with an aged patina.

Plinth bricks — plinth stretchers and plinth headers — are used in single or double courses to change the depth of the brickwork. This can be at the base of buildings or walls for added stability or at any height for aesthetic effect.

Plinth stretchers are also typically used for window sills, in brick pillars and as wall copings. Plinth headers are normally used in conjunction with plinth stretchers, or as windowsills similarly to cant or sill bricks.

Red Plinth Stretcher Bricks – A Classic Architectural Choice

These reclaimed red plinth stretcher bricks offer both character and functionality. Handmade and heavily weathered, they feature a rich patina developed over years of exposure to the elements. Measuring 9¼” long, 4¾” wide, and 3″ high with a 2″ upstand, they are ideal for both restoration projects and new builds. Their natural flaws, subtle colour variations, and textured surfaces add an authentic aged appearance, making them perfect for blending into existing structures.

Unlike modern machine-made bricks, handmade red plinth stretcher bricks have distinctive irregularities. Differences in shape, texture, and colour give them an unmistakable charm that complements period properties. These variations ensure that no two bricks are exactly alike, adding depth and authenticity to any project. Whether used in traditional restorations or incorporated into contemporary designs, they bring a clear sense of history and craftsmanship.

Plinth bricks, including both plinth stretchers and plinth headers, serve both structural and decorative purposes. They are commonly used in single or double courses to change the depth of brickwork. This can be at the base of walls for added stability or at any height to create a striking visual effect. These red plinth stretcher bricks enhance facades, garden walls, and architectural details with their classic appeal.

The Benefits of Using Reclaimed Building Materials

Choosing reclaimed materials reduces environmental impact by minimizing waste and decreasing the demand for newly manufactured bricks. These red plinth stretcher bricks have already withstood the test of time, ensuring long-lasting durability. Their weathered surfaces and aged patina allow them to seamlessly integrate into heritage properties, preserving architectural integrity. Additionally, reclaimed bricks add a sense of history and depth to modern builds, creating a lived-in, established aesthetic.

Whether repairing an existing structure or adding historical charm to a new project, these red plinth bricks provide an ideal solution. Their durability, unique character, and sustainable benefits make them a smart choice for architects, builders, and homeowners alike. Invest in quality craftsmanship and timeless appeal with these reclaimed bricks, ensuring a lasting impact on any build.

Plinth headers are normally used in conjunction with plinth stretchers, or as windowsills similarly to cant or sill bricks.
