Reclaimed half round blue wall copings offer heritage strength and subtle detailing for traditional brickwork. Made from Staffordshire blue clay, they provide outstanding durability in exposed settings. These Victorian copings often appear on garden walls and old bridges across Britain.
Staffordshire blue clay is a dense Etruria Marl found in the Midlands. Brickmakers fire it at extremely high temperatures in oxygen starved kilns. As a result, the clay vitrifies and becomes exceptionally hard and impermeable. This firing process creates its deep blue colour and smooth, tight surface. Moreover, it produces an engineering grade brick with low water absorption. Therefore, copings made from this clay resist frost damage and heavy rain.
The regular half circle profile softens the top line of brick walls. It also encourages rainwater to run off quickly and evenly.
